MC has been active in the Asia-Pacific region for many years, with subsidiaries in India, Malaysia and Taiwan as well as this latest addition in Singapore. “The acquisition of our Singapore representative of many years’ standing takes us a further step forward in expanding our presence and business interests in South-East Asia,” says Dr. Claus-Michael Müller, Managing Partner of MC-Bauchemie GmbH & Co. KG, adding: “Singapore is of strategic importance for us. We want to increase our involvement in this dynamically growing market and can see huge growth potential for our company in the region.”

Willie Kay, who has managed WAK Technologies throughout the last 15 years, intends to retire at the end of the year and will therefore be handing over the business reins to a duly appointed successor. However, he will remain available to MC-Bauchemie for special projects on a consultancy basis. Kay is an experienced businessman with extensive knowledge of the South-East Asian market. The Briton has developed the company into one of the leading suppliers of high-quality material systems for construction and repair applications in Singapore and its environs.

“A material is only as good as its application. Consequently, we are always keen to work very closely with partners, specifiers, architects and applicators. We also train these people to ensure that they know how to correctly use MC products,” says Willie Kay. From this platform and using the product systems supplied by MC-Bauchemie, WAK Technologies has successfully supported and implemented many a construction project in Singapore and the surrounding area. One such was the water reclamation plant in Changi at the eastern end of Singapore, the largest covered sewage treatment plant in the world. Over the past ten years, special surface protection systems have been applied to various structures there, not to mention injection systems and high-performance superplasticizers. “We are delighted that we are now part of the MC family and are confident as we look forward together to a shared future,” Willie Kay confirms.
