SMOPYC 2014

SMOPYC, May 07, 2013 - The International trade fair for Public Works, Construction and Mining Machinery, will be staged at Zaragoza Exhibition Centre, Spain from 1 to 5 April 2014.

For Spain the SMOPYC functions as the main trade fair for construction machineries. This event is held every three years. After record-setting year 2008 with more than 2000 exhibitors and over 100.000 visitors, SMOPYC’s success decreased in 2011 due to the world wide financial crisis. Nevertheless there were still more than 1200 exhibitors and 89.000 visitors counted on the trade fair premises.

2013 is also expected to be a hard year for Spain’s economy.

Prognoses for the building industry are not positive. According to Germany Trade & Invest  investments sank by annually 9% for the last few years. Sales of Spanish construction machineries dropped by 10 percent, according to the Committee for European Construction Equipment, CECE. Whether or not 2014 will bring about recovery to this sector of the economy is hard to say.

Considering these facts the organizers focus on international trade. Construction machineries for road construction and earthmoving, lifting equipment and trucks, drilling equipment, industrial vehicle, innovative technique,  components and services will be presented on 300000 square meters trade fair grounds.

Furthermore, within the setting of SMOPYC several top-level business meetings are scheduled. Along these lines, there is an extensive Trade Mission program with visits organized for international buyers as well as other events that take place with Embassies and trade institutions. The objective is to ensure that the show emerges as a centre where purchases and exchanges take place for participating companies.
